Ask and you shall receive! I asked ya’ll on Instagram if you wanted to see this on the blog – so here you go.
For the May long weekend my boyfriend Blair and I decided to check out PEC and do some wine/cider/brewery tours. It was amazing. We loved every single place we went to and the county was beautiful. And the best part – it only took us about an hour and half to get there! We’re already planning our next trip back (cough October cough).
So without further ado… here’s my PEC guide for any of you wanting to visit the beautiful county.
Where To Stay
Of course you can always go the airbnb route! There are some beautiful airbnb’s in the county and we looked at many of them before deciding on where we ultimately stayed. If you’re looking for ultimate luxury I would recommend the Drake Devonshire Inn – it overlooks the water and is located in prime winery area. It’s definitely on the pricey side though! If you’re looking for more of a boutique instagram-worthy spot you definitely have to check out the June Motel! It’s super boho and rosé themed and located right in Picton, about five minutes from downtown. We didn’t end up staying there but went and checked out their bar. Here’s a picture from there:
We decided to stay at the Lake On The Mountain Resort, which was exactly what we wanted! It’s very rustic and has the most insane views of the lake. Even if you don’t stay there I would recommend having dinner at The Inn, or a cheeky cheese plate at Miller House across the seat. We stayed at Glenora Cottage 2, which was down the street from The Inn and on the property where Lake On The Mountain Brewing Company was! Super private and perfect for just two people. There’s tons of other options on the resort so I recommend checking out their accommodations section on their site. Here’s a picture of me at their brewery:
Where To Eat
If you’re staying near the Lake On The Mountain Resort definitely check out the two places I listed above! Otherwise here’s my recommendations.
The Vic Cafe – They recently renovated too and the inside is gorgeous. Great service and even better upscale diner food.
The County Canteen – They have 26 beers on tap and amazing charcuterie boards. I love the rustic yet modern feel.
Portabella – If you’re looking for something more upscale and intimate this is definitely your spot. They have a great wine selection and amazing pasta.
The Bean Counter Cafe – They have such good sandwiches and an incredible coffee/tea menu. We had lunch on their patio and it was so delicious. I’m still craving the turkey sandwich I had. Also, their desserts look insane!!
The Drake Devonshire has the best brunch! Sand and Pearl Oyster Bar is a seafood lovers dream. The Waupoos Pub Market & Eatery has an amazing view and ever better menu.

Finally, What To Do
We came to PEC specifically for the wine! We had no idea where to begin and definitely didn’t want to drive because, well, wine. So we hired a private tour to take us to four wineries on the Saturday. His name was Jeff and he was incredible!! We are definitely going to hire him again when we come back in October. He was super friendly, professional and knowledgable. He picked us up and dropped us off and had a great relationship with all the winery owners. We had such a great time with him. You can hire him here.
The wineries we visited were Grange, Closson, Domaine Darius and Sugarbush.
Here’s us at Closson:
They were all incredible! I think for the whole instagram experience Closson was my favourite. My favourite wine was definitely from Domaine Darius though! There’s so many wineries in this area that I really don’t think you can go wrong with any of them!
On the Sunday we decided to head down to Waupoos Winery and check out their estate and their petting zoo! It was so much fun and definitely an incredible view. However, we got eaten alive by bugs!!! So wear bug spray.
We then went up the road to County Cider Company for the remainder of the afternoon/dinner. I love cider and their cider was sooooo delicious. My favourite is their blackberry peach flavour. Their restaurant is amazing – they’re known for their wood fire pizza and it definitely did not disappoint! They also have a beautiful red barn where I took this picture:
Also this is the view from their patio:
I think that’s everything! We definitely did a lot while we were there for the weekend. The county is gorgeous and there’s so much to do and see. I’ll definitely update this blog post when we go back and visit again.
